One year in London

A year goes fast.

I moved to London on 11th September 2022. It was tough at first. I was lonely, I couldn’t find a flat and a little part of me died every time I was charged £6.50 for a pint. I thought about Wrocław every night — not just the price of beer but the friends and the life I’d left and I asked myself over and over if I’d made the right choice.

Things haven’t gone as planned, but when do they ever? Still, London has given me so much more than I could have expected. I’ve come into my own as a teacher and discovered myself as an artist. I’ve been promoted, landed my dream job, become the private tutor to a World Cup winner and met incredible people from all over the world. I like the person I’ve become and I’m excited about who I’m becoming.

Life here is a challenge, but that’s exactly what I want it to be. I don’t want to stand still. It was only when I went back to Wrocław and had the best time catching up with my friends and the city that I realised, yes, I did make the right choice. Something about London was pulling me back to it. I didn’t know what it was, but for the first time I felt a strong sense that I was where I should be, at least for now.

So, here’s to year two.
